Syncing Waves (2020)
Two synchronization experiments at MIR Project, Wageningen University & Research.
In the first experiment two wave shaped tracks are connected with each other by two simple marble dispensing mechanisms. While one track is slightly “slower” than the other, the feedback loop connection keeps compensating the difference. This installation can also be used by visitors to send rolling marble (morse code) messages to each other or generate unpredictable rhythms.
In the smaller second experiment wooden frames on tiny wheels influence each other’s tipping points.
Shapes with the same number of corners always stay parallel with each other during the rotations.
